Electronic Referral System (ERS)

The NHS e-Referral System (eRS) supersedes the electronic referral system that GP practices known as Choose and Book.  

The GP standard contract for 2018/19 requires the full use of (eRS) for all consultant-led first outpatient appointments. From 1 October 2018, providers will only be paid for activity resulting from referrals made through eRS so they will no longer be accepting paper (that includes email and fax) referrals. 

East London Foundation Trust and Tavistock and Portman are undertaking an e-RS pilot for 2 of their services, Primary Care Mental Health Liaison Service (PCL) and the City and Hackney Primary Care Psychotherapy consultation service (PCPCS).   Please refer via e-RS where possible.
