Transient Ischaemic Attack Service
A specialist service for people that are thought to have suffered a temporary or very mild stroke (called Transient Ischaemic Attack or TIA).
The service aims to see people ASAP (often within 24 -48 hours) after they had their symptoms in order to prevent further and potentially more serious events.

- Patients with TIA symptoms (loss of vision, loss of sensation, speech problems), please fill in the referral form (attached) and email to huh-tr.tiaclinic@nhs.net

- Patients aged 18 years and above who may have suffered a temporary or mild stoke

Likely Transient Ischemic Attack is sudden onset of focal neurologic deficit
How to refer
Who can refer: GP
High Risk Patients
High risk patients (ABCD2 score of 4 or above, or who has had two or more TIAs within one week) need to be seen within 24 hours and should be referred immediately via email only.
EMIS referral
Send by: e referral — <p><strong>Low risk patients</strong></p> <p>Please refer low risk patients (BCD2 score of 3 or below, or who presents more than one week after the symptoms have resolved) via eRS, using specialty type geriatric medicine.</p> <p> </p>
