Power Up!
Power Up! is a 12-week tier-2 healthy living intervention for children, young people and their families 5-19 years (up to 25 years with SEND). There are two pathways: digital and non-digital, families can choose which one is best for them.
The digital pathway
Delivered via a smartphone app called PhysiApp. Once enrolled in Power Up! participants will be sent educational resources including videos and written materials each week around healthy eating and exercise. They will also set goals around exercise and healthy eating to meet each day, which will be tracked in the app. The Power Up! team will review progress in the app and participants can ask us questions or get more support through the chat function in the app.
The non-digital pathway
The same resources will be sent to participants in paper form by post. This will include all the educational resources, goals and weekly trackers. The Power Up! Team will then check in by phone call or text message each week to track progress.
Face to face drop-in sessions
Monthly in different venues all over Hackney. These sessions are optional, but will give children/young people/families the opportunity to meet our team face to face:
- Ask our dietitian and physiotherapist questions about healthy eating and exercise.
- Tell us about how you have been getting on, and ask any questions you have about the Power Up! program in general.
- Check weight and height
SEND
We have specific versions of both digital and non-digital pathways for young people with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities. Parents/carers of young people with SEND will also have access to 4 health coaching group sessions via MS teams throughout their 12 week intervention.
Referral Criteria:
- Aged 5-19 years (up to 25 years with SEND)
