Who We Serve
City & Hackney Integrated Primary Care (IPC) brings together all 37 GP practices in the borough of City & Hackney. Together, we care for a registered population of over 357,000 people, connecting local surgeries, community partners, and NHS services to deliver joined-up care across every neighbourhood
A diverse and dynamic population
City & Hackney is one of the most diverse areas in London, home to people from every community, culture, and background. We serve families who have lived in City & Hackney for generations and residents who have newly arrived. This diversity shapes our approach. Our services are inclusive and built to remove barriers to access, whether through translation support, community health programmes, or digital tools that make it easier to get help when it is needed.
We work closely with voluntary and community groups to understand what matters most to local people. This helps us design services that meet real needs, from childhood immunisation to long-term condition management and wellbeing support for older residents.
PATIENTS, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITIES
Our primary focus is on improving the health and wellbeing of patients and their families. Every service we deliver, from preventative health checks to the Duty Doctor and Extended Hours schemes, is aimed at helping people stay well and get care quickly when they need it.
Supporting local GP practices and PCNs
City & Hackney IPC also exists to serve the GP practices themselves. By pooling resources, sharing staff, and coordinating borough-wide services, we help local surgeries operate efficiently and focus more time on patients. We provide practical support through clinical leadership, digital transformation, and workforce development programmes. This includes training through the North East London (NEL) Training Hub, shared recruitment, and flexible staffing initiatives like the City & Hackney staff bank. Our collaborative model means that each practice can offer consistent, high-quality care while maintaining their individual relationships with patients. Together, we make primary care in City & Hackney stronger, fairer, and more resilient. Our Members
